OK, I've got the SDK installed and Direct3D somewhat up and running. I can't get a triangle to draw yet though, so I'm trying to see if the Debug spewing will work for me. It works, but it isn't complete. It spews out this:

D3D9 Helper: Enhanced D3DDebugging disabled; Application was not compiled with D3D_DEBUG_INFO
Direct3D9: (INFO) :======================= Hal SWVP device selected

Direct3D9: (INFO) :Using P4 PSGP
The not compiled with part is what I don't know. It is setup to debug or it wouldn't even spew this out as far as I know. I'm using the debug run-time as well. I tried #define ing the D3D_DEBUG_INFO, but it gives the same error. My window inits and destroys just fine, but I can't get the verts to draw yet. Can anyone help me? Thanks in advance.

Make sure you #define D3D_DEBUG_INFO *before* you #include and *before* you #include (if you use D3DX). The same applies if you're using precompiled headers.

As for displaying a triangle, take a look at Tutorial 2 in the DirectX SDK ([SDK location]\Samples\C++\Direct3D\Tutorials\Tut02_Vertices) - that displays a single triangle and along with the other samples has some simple code you can compare against your own code to get a clue about where yours differs.

Thanks, but I'm trying to use the UP version first. It is going to be for a wrapper kind of thingy that I'm making. The UP version, I think is called Immediate mode maybe, isn't in the tutorial rather it uses the buffer one instead. That is the next part to setup. I'll try the Debug thing though. Thanks.
