Hello. I need links to websites that will give me a load of information on programming with RenderWare. I need them to range from beginner to advanced. Can anyone help? Thankyou!

I did a deep google search and found nothing. This is not really a surprise: Renderware is a very expensive product, made for professionnals. I beleive they offer support for their product, and are probably not interested in giving out their advices. The only things you can download from their site are product sheets...

Now, I found a post on the intarweb which states that renderware is free (with support). I have some difficulties to believe the post author (mainly because I can't imagine that they sell support while giging it for free. There is some kind of contradiction in this statement. And Criterion is now a EA subsidiary). If you have any information about this, I am very interrested :)

Yeah, I can provide all the help you need... just let me know which studio you work with or who your account manager is and I'll give you a call...

Seriously, Criterion (makers of RenderWare) provide dedicated support to all customers (except for educational customers, where only the instructor gets direct support). There's a 24-hour SLA on all issues, and there are developer forums to ask these kind of questions.

If you look real hard, you can find some tutorials on how to use a very old version of RenderWare (used in ActiveWorlds back in the day). There are also some sharp hackers who have reverse-engineered bits and pieces of GTA (which uses RenderWare) and as a result they have some knowledge (though probably not the same terminology).

And, last but not least, the SDK comes with a fine selection of examples and decent docs. That's assuming you got the whole SDK from some P2P network (we have found it floating around out there before).

If you are a legitimate user of RW, please e-mail support@renderware.com and they'll sort you out.

BTW, EA has made RenderWare available for free for academic use. It's unsupported, but it's free. Heck, if the academic institute wanted to pick up my expenses I'd be happy to visit and give them all the training/support they could want! ;)

Simagery, what is the right process that schools need to follow in order to get a version of Renderware?
I looked at the renderware website and I could not find any information.

This e-mail address was in the press release:

renderwaredeployment@ea.com

I don't know much more about it as I'm not involved with it. It's administered by the EA corporate side of things (I focus on the game teams).
