Well I've googled "Java2D Tutorials" on a few occasions to scan what I get, I never seem to get a drip of useful information. All I find is documentation on how to use the functions of the library. What I cannot find is: - do I need to download anything? - what environments can I use Java2D in? (Win, Linux -- console/GUI)? - A "Hello World" of Java2D Any of those would be nice

Tutorial Linky This is a really good tutorial covering everything from your first window to DoubleBuffering to a full fledged Invaders clone.

do I need to download anything? Nothing besides the default Java install
what environments can I use Java2D in? Java2D is for Graphics within a GUI in full screen or windowed, not in console(to my knowing), and available on all platforms
A "Hello World" of Java2D? See the above link.

Hope this helps.

If you have any questions about anything in the tutorial, don't hesitate to ask about it!

Someone really needs to update that tutorial to 1.5 standards. [grin]

Not everyone uses 1.5.

I myself write for 1.4.2 because that is still what most people have installed on their machines.
