In the beginner's forum, I've been noticing alot of posts about compilers, IDEs and APIs - all of which the For Beginners sections covers (albeit in not so much detail). I think this stems from two problems: Visibility and Coverage. Visiblity: I was thinking it might be beneficial if the For Beginners link were highlighted somehow, or otherwise be made to draw attention to it. Novices can obviously find the Forums link as it's at the top - it stands out. In contrast the For Beginners is somewhat hidden and hard to notice at first glance. Either flashing text, or possibly a forced read-through for new registrants (so they can't help but see it before they can post). Coverage: While the What language and compiler should I make games with? section provides a great overview of langauges and target platforms, the choice of compiler is skimmed over with little detail. And the majoriy of questions in the Beginners' Forum are exactly this. I think included in the overview should be a link to an updated list of major compiler vendors, as well as a handful of the more popular free compilers. While having the community provide answers to specific compiler issues is great, imo these questions are asked often enough to justify maintaining a list that programmers of all skill levels can refer to.

I know that work is being done on these issues, although I don't know what the outcome will be or when you can expect to see changes, but rest assured we're well aware of the issue.

In the meantime, any feedback or suggestions you might have in that area are often of assistance to the staff and moderators.
