I'm just wondering what API you guys use for music in your games. I'm thinking about DirectShow because it supports compressed files but doesn't have the flexibility of DirectSound. Which is better?

I used DirectX Audio in the past but have since switched over to FMOD, which is basically a wrapper for DirectX Audio (correct me if I'm wrong).

It's pretty awesome, and a million times easier to use. It supports pretty much any format you can think of (mp3, ogg, wav, midi, mod, etc) and has implementations of every feature DirectX Audio and DirectShow have (minus video playback of course).

Cross platform, cross API, works very very well!
