At least six bucks.
LOL!!!!!!!!
It would cost 800 years... OF LIGHT!!
I would rather buy Atari, and have them remake Missile command for the XBox360. It would have awesome smoke effects on the missiles and junk...
I'll sell it to you... for your SOUL!
Quote:If they own enough of the company they can declare they are going to make it non-public and buy back all remaining shares regardless of their opinions. This was the case with Manchester United when Malcolm Glazer bought them.

They've been a publicly traded company since 1996 and have some holders that are unwilling to sell. Therefore it is impossible to buy Ubisoft as a whole.
Under UK law[pdf on compulsory purchase of land - I couldn't find related documents regarding corporations], Glazer had to purchase 90% plus one share of the club to enact his compulsory purchase. I'm not sure how this works in France (where Ubisoft is based).
Eat smaller fish...Interplay's market capital is at $704,000. I don't know how many shares are privately held or what their ownership structure is like though. ;)
Here comes my 'you can do anything' speech.

Lots of companies people thought would never fall have fallen. Been bought. Taken over in a hostile manner. Will those people that've been holding the shares hold on if the company starts doing bad? Gamerking could buy it then. Then turn it around. There are various other possibilities.
The real question is why would anyone want to buy Ubisoft?
From what I can see they have Prince of Persia, Ghost Recon, Myst as their more prominent brands. Not exactly wonderful,..at least not for me.
Surely it'd be easier to start your own company and build/publish your own ideas?
Or if you're going to buy a company that sucks, why not buy a less famous one for way less money and still be able to develop your own ideas and grow the business?

Don't forget Rayman, Splinter Cell, Far Cry, Lumines, and Brothers In Arms. Their portfolio is pretty large, especially when you throw in all the games that they have distribution-only agreements on.
Wasn't Ubisoft protected against a buyout by the French government recently ?
Edit: No, merely contemplated it after a move by EA that was considered hostile.

Four words: Electronic Arts World Domination. They won't stop until they own everything. [wink]
This is a year old, but a year ago they were planning on buying 20% of Ubisoft and in September the Ubisoft CEO made some comments about possible acquisition.

Don't forget King Kong, which already has 7 nominations at Spike TV's Video Game Awards show, despite not having been released yet. That show's always been a bit of a joke.
Anyways here's gamespot's list of Ubisoft's complete FY 2005-2006 schedule.
If anything, buy acclaim and force them to make better turok games; of all of them only the first was good, the rest sucked(except, maybe number two.)
Quote:And XIII, Bomberman, America's Army, Chessmaster, Beyond Good and Evil, and more. They are a ridiculously productive company.

Virtually every mainstream game I've actually liked in the last 2 years has been made by Ubisoft.
