Excel macro problem

I recently created an Excel workbook, and every time I open it, I get the following message: Macros in this workbook are disabled because the security level is high, and the macros have not been digitally signed or verified as safe. To run the macros, you can either have them signed or change your security level. That's all well and good, but my workbook shouldn't have any macros in it to begin with! I tried screwing around with adding a combo box, and in the process I'm guessing that's when the macro was added, since I only started receiving this message after adding the box. I have since completely deleted the combo box, so I'm not sure why I'm getting this error. I went to Tools->Macro->Macros, but none were shown in my workbook. I'd like to just completely delete any trace of any and all macros. (I don't even know what the hell a macro is.) Thanks.

A macro is basically an automated sequence of inputs which are program specific. A keyboard macro for example can be a recorded sequence of keystrokes an mouseclicks which you can "replay" later. An Excel macro is a recorded sequence of Excel commands, which can be useful if you routinely execute a long sequence of commands and wish to shorten the amount of time it takes. Macro viruses are macros programmed for a malicious purpose, such as deleting a bunch of your system files. Word and Excel documents can contain malicous macros, which is why the security measure you are describing is in place. Your situation is probably just an error, so you probably should just lower your security settings so you no longer get that message.

ALT+F11 will open up the VB Editor window. See if you have any modules or classes floating around that arent listed as a macros to run.

Thanks Nahoopii. I did what you said and saw some code like:

Worksheet_Selection_Change
End Sub

but with no actual code in between. Just empty functions. I deleted them and now I get no more error message.
