Hello All, Project name: 3D Network Visualizer Brief description: I am a network security engineer who has been working in the industry for many years. Recently my major focus has been on technologies such as Checkpoint NGX, Network General Sniffer, Packeteer, McAfee Intrushield, etc. The problem with almost all network security technologies are they deal with massive amounts of information at the corporate level and have terrible interfaces to present the data. It all looks like Excel spread sheets or cumbersome HTML graphs. Target aim: Retail. Compensation: When we sell it. Technology: DirectX or whatever works well Additional Info: I propose to start a project with interested people to develop a graphical interface that will present this type of networking data in three dimensions utilizing DirectX technology. There are standard data streaming mechanisms that almost all network based technologies share that could be utilized to feed the graphic engine with the raw statistical data. In a nutshell as a most basic description of the idea, about the best industry graphical tool to display network traffic patterns in the industry today is the Matrix included in the Sniffer Pro product. It is a simple circle with IP addresses on each side with a green line drawn in real time from one side to the other showing IP conversations. I would like to take this to the next level. If we managed to come up with a decent prototype, I have access to many large Fortune 500 companies, who I am sure would be interested in purchasing such a tool. I believe there is a real demand for such a product and no current tools in existence that come even close. The first group that would release something like this would stand to make some good cash. Contacts: For those who are interested in participating in such a project. Please email me at alaxul@hotmail.com Thanks, Mike. [Edited by - AlaXul on October 22, 2005 10:20:09 AM]
