How do the Gamedev forums work? Do they use PHP and MySQL? Are posts kept in a database?

The fact that the page extension is .asp leads me to assume that it's ASP. The posts appear to be held on an MS SQL Server database (IIRC from error messages I've had in the past), but I'm only guessing on that count.

GameDev is all-microsoft, meaning they use neither PHP or MySQL. According to the info it returns in the HTTP header, they use ASP.Net with MS IIS 6.0. I'm not sure which version of the database, but it's surely also a microsoft product.

Oh yeah, I forgot about the .asp in the addresses. Is MS SQL much different than MySQL?

Well, it is much different than MySQL, as databases go, but in principle, no.
