Hi guys, I was finally able to make opengl work with Dev-C++. However,I can't seem to cope up with NeHe tutorials since I'm using a different IDE. I just want to ask a few questions again... I hope you won't mind... 1. What's the glaux.h header file for? 2. I still can't seem how windows API and OpenGL could work together. Could you please point me to a good windows programming tutorial? Especially on creating windows and putting contents in it... 3. OpenGL can be used for 2D graphics right? Like puttin in some sprites, etc... I really want to focus on OpenGL and not with Allegro, SDL or Direct X... 4. How much mathematical background do I need to use OpenGL effectively? Were some of you guys able to get started without some really strong background in mathematics? Thanks!
We should never stop learning...

Some older OpenGL functions are defined within this header file. Although they work fine they are out of date and aren't recommended for use.

You'll need to use an orthographic matrix view. This page explains glOrtho quite well.

Graphical programming (especially 3D) requires a lot of mathematics. I came from a strong mathetmatical background and have found it extremely useful.
