Hey everyone, I'm taking a Bachelor's of Computer Science, and for my Technical Writing class, I have been asked to write a proposal to solve a particular problem in Computer Science. Any suggestions for this? I don't have any good ideas!

Propose to solve the Halting Problem. Or prove that P=NP.

If this proposal is supposed to be for something that would actually be feasible for you to solve, then you can choose some area and try to improve on it. So some examples: increase the speed and accuracy of facial recognition algorithms, optimize a process scheduler, etc.

I'd alter that assignment slightly to explaining a known solution to a problem; like the ai used in bots and those cars that raced thru the desert recently.

kevmo, you gave me some excellent problems to be solved.

Unfortunately, I was unclear when asking the question. I need to provide a solution, and explain why that solution is better than any other solution, and provide references to back up my opinions.

Unfortunately, I don't think I'll be able to solve that kind of problem in less than a month -_-

Oh...I thought you were supposed to be writting a proposal seeking funding in order to pursue the reasearch you are going to conduct into the solution, providing your proposal is sufficiently awesome and you gain said funding. In other words, it was an excuse to make up a bunch of crap and get away with it [grin]

Must remember that one. :)

If you only have one month, then I'm assuming that it is something like a report a computer analyst would provide. In those type of courses they normally look for examples that demonstrate your knowledge on JIT (Just in time approach), automating manual systems, the step involved and the general fluff you would expect.

Look for some business that has implemented an IT infrastructure and I am sure you will find tons of the stuff. Its a pretty routine requirement in most degree level IT courses.
