Hello, I tend to sit behind software versions until I'm sure there will be no compatibility issues. Heres an example, the recent Directx minor SDK updates have resulted in DXLIB requiring a DLL if you use it now, which unfortunately causes alot of headaches for some software we developed. I read in another thread here that MAX 8 plugins won't compile with VS 2005 And then there is the new compiler issues. All our software is developed in VC++ using VS 2003. Has anyone run into any problems with their Directx9c software projects after moving to VS 2005? I mean things like, * stability * program slows in some areas? * program speeds up :) * any other anomalies All the best.

I've had two problems:

(1) Library compatability: you have to remember to go back and build all of your libraries with 2005, otherwise unresolved and redefined symbols will crop up. This isn't that big of a deal for your own libraries, but it's a big pain building some prebuilt ones (ie Lua and Luabind).

(2) Apps won't start: my applications won't start, they complain about not being able to find the core runtime (msvcrmt80.dll or something like that). If you put it in the directory, it then complains that your app tried to load the crt incorrectly.

Apparently, this has to do with the application's Manifest, or a new type of file that tells the operating system what dependencies you have. They are embedded in your app.

I haven't been able to resolve this issue yet. I'm waiting for more people to try it to determine if its a coding problem somewhere, or if its a problem with my OS.
