Some of you may have followed the one-week, one-button contest hosted by Ravuya - but if not, you should give the game version of boolean's amazing comic a shot. I present... GDComic: The Game The game includes nearly all of boolean's comics, as well as some additional art by me, and programming skillz by pi_equals_3. It's still got a little work to do (and I plan to clean up some of the extra graphics as well). Let us know what you think, if you have any threads to add, or if you have any ideas for rating levels (for example, if your rating is in the 1400s, you will be Avatar God! <100 is vipejc [smile]). Current threads to add: HTML developers needed for MMORPG -10000 (New!) ERROR: "Demo Initialiaztion Failed."

This is what I get when I attempt to run it.

Windows XP Pro
Intel Integrated video (64MB I believe)
Intel P4 2.8GHz HT
2GB RAM

Runs for me, but pretty choppy I'm afraid.

Also, game truely pwned by forum skin change =D

Very nice game ^^ ... You really get a hang on it :)

One question though: Is there an end?
Maybe i didn't have the patience to complete it.

HAHA! I LOVE IT! [grin]

I roffled quite a bit at some of the threads you managed to dig up, as well as the ratings (like +50 for the gamedev.net comic thread, and
-1000 for the 'stop rating me down!' thread).

Two suggestions:

1) At the start where ze doctor is giving instructions, you may want to put a little 'press enter to continue' at the bottom, just to safe gaurd against idiots like me who kept clicking the mouse thinking the screen was on a timer, or there was a button somewhere I was missing.

2) Maybe have it so as the game goes on, the speed gets greater.

Fascinating. I hadn't paid attention so I got surprised the first time I hit mod range. That's so unfair... I demand the right to arbitrarily close threads and banz0r people.

Don't you have to be GDNet+ to do that?

I'm going to add the 'press any key to continue' in the Dr. instructions right now - I churned those out up until the second I sprinted out of my apartment for a meeting right before the contest ended.

Also, it should be getting faster as the game continues. I don't know which version everyone played, but you can download the exe only to update it.

There is an end! I may want to modify the instructions to hint at that. When you hit 2000+, you get 'Staffed' by Dave and win. You lose when you hit 0, are banned, and nessy kills Dave.

If you see any random frames, they're from me.

No particular reason, I just thought it would be fun to add some 'comic relief' to the game. If you're wondering why you have a beak... well, boolean gave you one, and who am I to question him? [wink]
