Guess I should introduce myself.... Name: Rob Age: 24 Current Project: Ethereal Plains Project Phase: Early enough to still be fun, but not late enough to be playable. I'm a seasoned .NET developer, but mostly know Webforms, winforms, windows/web services, and the other mainstream type apps. I'm learning sockets and working on a custom Reliable UDP protocol in C#.NET. Oh, and am located in North Plano.
Welcome.

Name: Patrick
Age: 23
Location: Mesquite, TX //less than a mile away from idSoftware
Current Project: ...lunch?
Project Phase: I'm in learning mode right now.
I began programming in May, so I am still a beginner. I have made a couple little games, but I got frustrated with my lack of a real foundation in C++. I am currently taking courses in C++ and reading a LOT of books and tutorials. I am reading "Programming Role Playing Games with DirectX 2nd Ed." by Jim Adams, and "Game Coding Complete" by Mike McShaffry.

I failed to mention, I'm in Oak Cliff, only a couple of miles from downtown Dallas.

Hey ixsis, nice to see people are still joining :). Things are going a little slowly around here, I guess it's vacation time for most of us.

I guess maybe I should update myself. I now have looked at and finally somewhat understood a 3d engine. It had to be Irrlicht. It is pretty easy to use, though I don't know what happened in a month because the last time I looked, I couldn't figure it out. I don't think I read some enlightening article or anything, so I don't know. Either way, I'm going to remake my Space Battle Project with Irrlicht. I still am going to use DX for sound and input still because I don't like Irrlicht's input and the sound part doesn't exist. I'm using temporary models from 3dcafe until I make my own. I would like to take it commercial, but if I do, it will probably be a while. God, you guys must see a lot of newbs that want to go commercial. I want to, but I DO have realistic expectations. Anyway, check my website for updates and screenies and eventually downloads as it comes along. Also, welcome to the group to all the new members who posted.
PS, we need to have another meeting. It has been to long.

I have been trying to approve you but I keep getting errors when I try. I have posted a request to have this looked at, but in the mean time welcome and feel free to post as you wish. As soon as it's fixed I'll bring you in so you can respond to announcements and meetings.
