Cnet music downloads also provide some free songs too (over 50,000 actually)...

purevolume.com is unsigned artists....i am looking for signed artists...like ones that play on the radio, have music videos, stuff like that. such as:

(these are just random one
s that pop into my head)
-System of a Down
-The Police
-The Doors
-The Eagles
-Slipknot
-Nirvana
-White Zombie
-Alkiline Trio
-Coheed and Cambria
-Northstar
-NoFX
-etc.
-etc.

I think it'd be pretty rare for such artists to release their songs for free on the Internet.

You can pick any two from free, legal and signed but requiring all three is not going to give you a lot of choice.

Actually, I downloaded 4 tracks of Coheed & Cambria from Cnet, 3 tracks from Fallout Boy at purevolume, and 1 or 2 tracks from Underoath from purevolume as well. If you look hard, you can find some good music on these sites.

Keep in mind that you are not paying for the music. If you really want a good selection of music, grab a napster subscription or get an Itunes music card. You can pick up a 15 dollar Itunes card at Target on the way to work or something. As long as you are not paying for the music, you will have to be content with what they give you for free legally.

ya...i have napster light. which is all i need. and napster light has good prices and all. but i was just wondering if there was something out there like napster for free, legal and signed.but i do have a question sort of related to what "mattnewport" said. i heard that "limewire"; "livewire"(cant remember which one it`s called) was free until this january. is that true? was it never legal? or will it be legal after january and i heard wrong???

Limewire itself is free and legal. Most of the material you're able to download it isn't.
