I've been having trouble finding a proper graphics driver for my PC that is compatible with Windows 98 SE. My pc is an HP pavilion a600n, and when I researched the card, drivers were available from only Windows XP. I'm currently stuck in 16 color mode and some applications won't even run as a result. Is there some general driver that can be used in this case?

the specs say its a Radeon 9800 chip in it :

so look at ATI' webpage for it. finding this driver:

Actually, you had the wrong model, I'm using an a600n, and the card is listed as VIA 3D technology, but I can't find a model number on the pc's product description. The VIA web site has products listed specifically and drivers are hard to find.

ok, you were right, my fault not checking and double-checking the search-result ^^

but this is correct, i believe:

from the HP-website:
http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?dlc=en&lc=en&product=424351⟨=en&cc=ca&docname=c00191699

the mo-bo-specs:
http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?dlc=en&lc=en&product=424351⟨=en&cc=ca&docname=c00069442#c00069442_doc

tell us its a KM400-chip (with integrated graphics) leads us to the VIA-page:
http://www.viaarena.com/default.aspx?PageID=2&OSID=1&CatID=1160

and more specific:
http://www.viaarena.com/default.aspx?PageID=420&OSID=1&CatID=1160&SubCatID=102

hope that helps now ;)

Thanks for the help.

However, this just brings be to a dead end because this information is only valid for Windows XP / 2000. Also, "Both a VIA chipset platform driver and the display driver must be installed for the KM400 or KN400 chipset." is really ugly, and I'm not sure how that works. Is there some general driver that will be compatible with this card so that I can use it on an older Operating System?

darn. sometimes i'm to stoopid to think

on the VIA-page you can choos the OS, and i choose? rightn WinXP.

this one is for Win98SE:
http://www.viaarena.com/default.aspx?PageID=420&OSID=6&CatID=1430&SubCatID=102

and here:
http://www.viaarena.com/default.aspx?PageID=2
you can find the list of supportet OS(es?)

1M Apollogies for my incorrect or misleading information.
