Could someone tell me how to create a thing I can use to put a isometric tile onto? the tile is 64x32... the tiles itself is isometric so just making a square wont work and uhh I cant figure out how to make the object right. I should maybe also add that the code will be used with DirectX8. (Why the heck did they rip directdraw out of it on us like that? Thats total BS) Thanks, kyle

isometric tiling would be easier with a 3d engine anyways so quit your bitching.

all you have to do is READ THE DOCS. have you even looked at them.

I know that your question is valid, but it sounds like you haven''t read anything about DX8, but you want to use it. why don''t you use DX7 with DirectDraw?

anyways, to answer your question, you have to create a vertex buffer, with 4 verticies, and then you position the verticies using the world matrix, and you draw each tile with the DrawPrimitive(...) function. I would read a few tutorials to fill in the blanks.

what makes this easier is that you can just make your images square and texture map them onto the isometric tile.

The only reason I was "Bitching" is because I am rather fond of DirectDraw. I''ve been using it for a few years and have been doing pretty good. Well, DX8 came out and my boss is now wanting me to make stuff with it. I don''t know Direct3D and I''ve got to learn it rather quick. I like most, had no idea that they were droping it. If I did it wouldnt have bothered be because I could have been learning it for the last few months and when it was time to switch I could have done so and known what I was doing. I believe I have reason enough to be "bitching" like that.
