Alright, I just had a quick question for you guys. Is there a place where I can find experienced programmers who want to join up and make a game? Currently we are developing a mmorpg, we already have our composer, 6 Artists, 2 smaller programmers, etc.. But I still need a really good experienced programmer. I already have a post on the help wanted on this site, but still only new recruits. Ultimately I would not mind giving up some share of my company ownership or obviously a nice pay, but all I seem to find are fresh recruits looking for low level jobs. Any help would be greatly appreciated. OH, the engine is built in C++, uses Python for scripting and it's a mmorpg. Thanks a ton!! Matt P.S. This is not a request for help, well it can be....but mostly just asking if anyone knows anywhere I can go to find someone for a commercial project where I don't have to pay $600 to sign up and look at resumes.

I seem to remember someone saying a week or so ago about a place called http://www.guru.com where you can find people for projects. The poster and a few other said they've had some good results there, so I'd give that a shot. Hope that helps.

Are you looking for someone to work full-time or just a weekends/evenings hobbyist? How much are you planning on spending on a "really good experienced programmer"? The reason I ask is that $600 doesn't seem like a lot of money considering what I assume the total cost of the enterprise must be.

Preferably I'm looking for an excellent programmer to work on site full time.

Also as yes that is fairly insignificant compared to the funding, money wasted is money not well spent :)

Also I will look into hiring someone part time if they are reliable and can show they have an interest in the project.

Oh, and thanks for that guru.com site, will deffinately help in the future...unfortunately it's for contract work only and not to find anyone full time :(

Deffinatly thank you though!!

Also as to pay, that's a very subjective question. Salaries will range from the low $50,000's all the way up to $100,000+ and even possible ownership share(Along with salary) if you have enough experience.

I'm sure there's people there that will work full time...if you made them the right offer.

Eirek, what's the game design about so far? What's the plot, graphics API, etc.? And how can you afford to pay someone 50,000 - 100,000 dollars for fulltime work, when you are asking for all the help you can get with your part timers?

What do you mean by:

"And how can you afford to pay someone 50,000 - 100,000 dollars for fulltime work, when you are asking for all the help you can get with your part timers?"

So far we have a full crew working with us and I'm looking for some additional people to join the company. I don't quite see how asking for full time and possible some part time help would make a difference, maybe you could explain better?

Also in regards to the setting itself, it's based upon a war from the outside non-explored areas who are trying to conquer the civilized "world". This is a very open ended game with a huge amount of options to explore. Ultimately the game will never end, but unlike other mmorpgs there will be an ending to the current storyline so that players don't feel like their stuck in a time bubble with nothing happening.

I would be able to better explain this with a NDA signed as I can disclose more information.

So are you working for / owning a proper game development studio? On these forums people offering money are generally thinking years down the line - so you need to make it absolutely clear how your 'company' stands or people will think that a promise of full-time pay will disappear.

If they believed it was a real job you would have LOADS of applicants from this site. Like me for instance! You really need a website so people don't keep asking you this over and over again.

Well unfortunately as I stated earlier a website won’t be available for approximately 4 months.

As to anyone who is interested, I have had many programmers ask about the project but only a few who would qualify for the senior programmer position. If you are excellent at C++ and Python and have good experience contact me please so I can discuss this further with you.

This is NOT a free position, nor a free help with potential profits. This is a starting paid position with full time development work based in Dallas, TX.

Any other questions can be forwarded to me by either email or telephone.
