hi, i have this problem, i'm making a simple 3d game that should go with 2d interface, of course at the game start first i should load interface in 2d and later when user presses start button 3d part of game should start how do i do this kind of stuff, i'm into 3d but not 2d so much, how could i create those 2d buttons and then detect if it is pressed, and one more question, what would be the game loop like with interface and game

Here is a fantastic set of tutorials, although for Managed DirectX it should be a breeze to understand the theory and implement your own.

I hope this helps.
Take care.

Also, before you put in a lot of work creating your own GUI, definitely check out the one that comes with the standard DXSDK framework. It's pretty nice, in that it has all the common controls (text, command, radio, check, label, combo box, slider, ect...) and is very easy to use. It's pretty modular now, so it should be easy to drop into any existing application with minimal changes.

i'm currently working on directInput,

so i've loaded mouse and keyboard and initialized them, but now my problem is this..

i've found out that i must use a buffer[256] for keyboard every time i want to get it's state and i must do that every game loop and also for mouse.

so my problem is when the game would be running on slower computer the render(game loop) would be slow and by that mouse and keyboard also

can i get keyboard and mouse data only when they are activated instead of checking every loop
