Hi. Please help with texture formats. When i create my dx device (DX8), first i'm detecting display mode trough GetAdapterDisplayMode function. Then i use this result as d3dParams.BackBufferFormat. Do i need to use it when creating textures using CreateTexture(..., D3DFORMAT, ...)? There is a lot of formats listed in D3DFORMAT. Do my programm will need to support all of them? I want to sell my game to the public, and i want, that it should be compatible to the majority of video cards. Thanks!

The best way to make sure that you are supporting the majority of cards is to use the D3DCAPS9 structure and check if the texture format you want to create the texture with is valid using IDirect3DDevice9::GetDeviceCaps().

I hope this helps.
Take care.
