CreateTexture mipmapping problems

I'm converting some of my DirectX 8 programs into DirectX 9 and have come across a problem with some mipmapped textures. I use 'D3DXCreateTextureFromFile' to load the texture from file and then 'g_pD3DDevice->CreateTexture' to create the texture mipmaps. It worked well in DirectX 8 but now any of my mipmapped textures don't display. If i remove the mipmap creation step the textures show up fine so it seems to be that step that is causing the trouble. The CreateTexture parameters are as follows - 256, 256, 0, 0, D3DFMT_UNKNOWN, D3DPOOL_MANAGED, &g_pMipMapTexture, NULL Any help would be greatly appreciated, cheers. :)

Hi bud,

Use D3DXCreateTextureFromFileEx(). Within this you can specify the number of mip map levels to create when the texture is loaded.

Also, if you were to create the mipmap levels in photoshop when you save the texture as a DDT, it would be even simple.

Hope that helps,

Ahh thanks heaps, that function worked a charm. I don't know how i didn't see it in the first place. Cheers for the help and the hasty reply :)
