Hey everyone. I just don't understand what I'm doing wrong. If I go to http://localhost/ASPNEWS/ then everything works fine. But if I go to the actual link http://www.mydomain.com/news/ then it just doesn't work. It just gives me a server error. Any ideas? This is the code for my config file.

LoadModule aspdotnet_module modules/mod_aspdotnet.so

# Use the asp.net handler for all common ASP.NET file types
AddHandler asp.net asax ascx ashx asmx aspx axd config cs csproj licx rem resources resx soap vb vbproj vsdisco webinfo
<IfModule mod_aspdotnet.cpp>

    AspNetMount /ASPNEWS "**:\****\*****\****\drslabscom\news"

      Alias /ASPNEWS "**:\****\*****\****\drslabscom\news"

      <Directory "**:\****\****\***\drslabscom\news">
        Options FollowSymlinks ExecCGI
        Order allow,deny
        Allow from all
        DirectoryIndex Default.html Default.aspx
    </Directory>

    # For all virtual ASP.NET webs, we need the aspnet_client files
    # to serve the client-side helper scripts.
    AliasMatch /aspnet_client/system_web/(\d+)_(\d+)_(\d+)_(\d+)/(.*)           "C:/Windows/Microsoft.NET/Framework/v$1.$2.$3/ASP.NETClientFiles/$4"
    <Directory           "C:/Windows/Microsoft.NET/Framework/v*/ASP.NETClientFiles">
        Options FollowSymlinks
        Order allow,deny
        Allow from all
    </Directory>

</IfModule>

Thanks in advance.

I have absolutely no knowledge on Apache...

However, I do have a decent amount of ASP.NET w/ IIS experiance, so i'll take a stab at it... if "localhost" works, but the IP itself doesn't work, it could very well be a firewall issue. Make sure ports are open, and even try opening up a Demiltarized Zone (DMZ), and if you're sure thats not it, make sure your ISP is not blocking port 80; try switching to port 8181 or something.

Also, try typing in the IP, and not the name... it could be a DNS issue.

I turned my firewall off. It's still giving me that error. Thanks though, any other ideas?

i edited my post a few times...

change the port to the web server to use 8181. don;t forget to put :8181 in the URL.

Sorry, I didn't see that until now. I tried that. It still says the same thing.

are you behind a hardware filewall? also, did you try typing in your IP, rather then localhost / domain name? it could be a DNS issue.

I have the .NET framework 2.0 installed if that helps.
Well I'll try typing in my IP again, no I don't have a hardware firewall.
[EDIT]No the ip didn't change. Thanks for the help. Maybe it has to do with somthing in the config file. I'm not sure.[/EDIT]

it could be anything. i have a VOIP phone, and when my phone is connected, i cannot access my site via IP; i have to type localhost. (and no one can connect to me).

it's probably some weird firewall issue or something like this.

I'm currently not behind a router. I have a direct line into the main cable modem. I had it working a while ago before I reformatted. It was somthing to do with my config file. I can't seem to locate the problem this time though. I think it has somthing to do with the permissions. It works on localhost but not on the actual domain. It says Server Error 500 no matter what I do and it's extreamly frusterating. Thanks though for all of your help so far, we're at least eleminating some possibilities.

well, im all out of ideas...

all i know is, if localhost works, but your IP does not work..... then it screams to me like a firewall type issue, at least thats always how it was for me.... I'm not the most knowledgable / experienced in this subject though.

good luck.

If you want the app to be accessed via /news, why are you aliasing /ASPNEWS to this directory?

Surely it would be better to AspNetMount the directory as /news ?

It's not going to automatically parse aspnet in /news because there is some other alias for it.
