Notepad is driving me insane, by adding actual wordbreaks into my html file when I have wordwrap on, and messes up my file when I resize my window and save. So I'm looking for a small free app will not give me this problem. I don't need anything with syntax highlight or any fancy features. I'm just doing tables images and text. Just something simple, small and fast to edit the actual html by hand. [Edited by - Vampyre_Dark on December 21, 2005 8:49:10 PM]

Here you go: TextPad ^_^
It is much better than you expect, and it's license is kind of 'free' (just like WinRAR).

I like 1st Page 2000. It has syntax highlighting, preview, help files for html/css tags and lots of free scripts (dhtml, perl, javascript...). It is not WYSIWYG editor. And of course, it is free [smile].

Thanks AP. Alleycode does exactly what I want. It lets me just open up and start typing with nothing to get in the way, and it hasn't mangled my file formatting with wrapping.

Thanks everyone.

This is the original AP. What are you talking about, 'mangled my file formatting with wrapping'? I just downloaded and installed it, too, and it isn't placing line breaks in my files, but does auto-wrap long lines. And I'm liking it better, just for the spell checking (although I wish I could figure out a way for it to reopen the previously opened files).

Even with the quirks I've seen, I'm moving toward it.

(Mabye it is because I installed everything?)
Notepad was mangling the files by adding real line breaks to wrap. The reasosn I made the post. I did not care for the 1stpage 2000. Exactly what I didn't want. The inifite loop came from the program trying to find features I chose not to install and wouldn't stop.

AlleyCode is perfect. I've been using it for an hour now and I love it. :)
