Setting VSYNC (refresh rate)

How can i set the Video refresh rate. By default its 60HZ but i know my pc can do 85 (and it does so in window mode). Its just when i run my opengl app in fullscreen it loads in 85 HZ so how can i set it to that, and is it possible to query the gfx card with a specific resolution and then it returns the fastest refresh rate at that resolution?

What OS? If it's Windows, then look at ChangeDisplaySettings for setting the resolution/refresh rate and EnumDisplaySettings for finding out what resolutions/refresh rates are supported.

Yes that would, and that is why he also refered me to the EnumDisplaySettings function.

In reality you want a loop that runs that EnumDisplaySettings with all possible settings and then only allows u to select the possible ones.

However ill assume the guy using my program is not an idiot!!!

Now there is a big assumption. Generally it's better to assume they are idiots and malicious idiots to boot.
