I am looking for animators (no, i''ll go to that board too), but I was wondering if I should require them to write VB. I know you can animate in it, hell, I write it, but I need people specifically for VB animation (FMVs, etc). Should I require animators to write VB?
NO. Your graphics people do not need to know how to even do HTML. They just need to be able to draw. VB can "animate", but it''s not the same as FMV.

Then what program should they use to animate?
If they are animators then they should know. VB is an application this is used for programming other applications. They would use an application that is specifically made for making movies.
Ask them.

DirectShow is good for...playing animations although you could always embed a flash object. C++ programmers can do this stuff also though.

But he''s not talking about playing animations, he''s talking about ''MAKING'' animations. He needs to talk on the art forum and see what is used most. I''m assuming he just wants to become familiar with the program they use. That''s a good idea so he understands what they are doing and why.
