As much as I like my nVidia''s, I feel sad about the demise of 3Dfx. I don''t know quite how to explain it... I just imagine myself as the founder of such a company, and all the worktime&effort to achieve what they did, only to be eclipsed by another company a few years later and dissolve. The trade-off between price and quality does not exist in Japan. Rather, the idea that high quality brings on cost reduction is widely accepted.-- Tajima & Matsubara

3DFX''s demise is something that can be seen as a sad factor

If it wasn''t for 3dfx, consumer video cards might be at the standard of a voodoo1 4mb at this point in time, instead of the high tech standards of the voodoo5 and geforce2

3dfx, however, are going for reasons, of which many were their fault

The first sign of a 3dfx hammering couldof been seen since around the voodoo3''s release...after the voodoo2 burnt into the market (i still got one somewhere...quite frankly it''s only just getting maxed out), the voodoo3 showed through as a lax effort from 3dfx, who still favour such things as 16bit color

They are going, but let us not remember them as the company who fell after an amazing empire, but as the founders of what we have today, and the guys who really worked out fsaa (hehe)

Cheers to 3dfx!

eh?
