What would you all recommend a newbie like me begin with first? I''m talking about which compiler, books, programs, etc. should I use to begin with? I''ve become overly-fascinated with game design and stuff. A little help would be nice! Thanks. madkat

Here''s where i would start.
Get yourself the book Sams Teach yourself c++ in 21 Days. ($50)
It comes with a copy of Microsoft Visual C++ compiler. Read the book and do the samples and examples in the book, once you have become good a c++ (or at least have somewhat of a clue). Then move on to an graphics api, such as OpenGL and learn that.
I would definitly start learning C or C++ first though.

No problem!
There are many C and C++ books out there, but the best I have found so far was(is) the Teach yourself C++ in 21 days. Maybe you can find something better, but that''s my suggestion.

Good Luck

Roach,

A while back I bought a package that had Sams Teach Yourself Visual C++ 6 in 21 days & Microsoft Visual C++ 6 Compiler. Should I just spend some time reading that book and doing some of the demonstrations?
