hi all, i while ago i made a very basic tile engine, and have latley been interested in networking and databases (due to some exposure at work, i have been learning a bit about each of them :P). I am interested in making a very small persistent world, that would maybe hold 6-8 ppl and alow them to chat and exchange items, and eventually i want them to be able to solve small puzzles together. I am having a little difficulty designing how the clients and server will interact with each other, and what roles each are supposed to play. My understanding at the moment: - client program only accepts input, and this input is sent to the server program - server program processes input and makes any calculations with the info it recieves, updates the server gamestate and then sends the info back to all the clients? Is information sent to the server in structs containing all the info needed, for example if someone sends a chat msg, it could be sent to the server for processing in a struct containing {senderName, chatText} and the server processes adn sends bak to other clients. basically what im getting at is the server responsible for processing all gameplay related actions that get sent to it from the clients? and could anyone point me in the direction of any good sites that have any info on the subject. Sorry for the long winded post, i hope it makes sense Cheers
