I want to create a Java Pinball Game that incorporates very good commenting code in order to distribute to some friends in my Java class. The graphics do not need to be nearly as elaborate as the Microsoft version. Indeed, the Microsoft version creates an illusion of the three dimensions, but I do not want the game to be as elaborate as that. I want to use a 2 Dimensional representation or a Plain view only. I want to be able to have targets that change the behaviour of balls and add points when they are hit (I would prefer to have several types of target with different behaviours). I would want a firing mechanism for bringing balls into play. I would also want a right and a left flipper to bat the ball back into play. Could you help me by writing such a program or direct me to one?

On a surface level this looks contradictory. You want to write a pinball game yet you want someone else to do it for you? I take it you want references.

I'd suggest looking up 2d collision detection, you'll need to have at least a loose grasp of physics as well, though you could probably fudge it.

Check out this thread:

pinball physics and such

*edit: I was beaten to the punch, but my advice still stands.

It's really not any sort of homework I assure you. It's a question that my friends and I came across and wanted to get solutions to study the code so that we can understand how java works. We just picked this pinball game program out of the blue and wanted solutions to examine. Honestly, that's the situation. Could you please help me?

Sorry for the sarcasm above.

I used google to search "Java Source Code Pinball Game" and found this link

Geek Ball Pinball

it has the source code in the form of a link on it.

Good luck with your friends and your game programming!

Thanks,

Thanks for the helpful link there. It'll help me alot. I noticed that the program is an applet on a webpage. I was looking for something that incorporated the use of a JFrame or JPanel.

Are you interested in the graphics part of the code or in the game logic part?

I'm actually interested in both the graphics and the logic part.

It probably wouldn't be too hard to put the game inside from a JFrame. Just find a tutorial to make a good window gui in java then put the game code in. Java isn't too hard a language to pick up on quickly.

Yeah thanks I'll try that. If I encounter problems would you help me along the way? I'll appreciate it.

Serious? I got this question from a booklet which our class had to review. It is a University question but it's not my assignment. All of us in our class were asked by our lecturer to come up with solutions that we can compare in class. My friends and I are working on it but I thought I'd see what anyone else out there had as a solution. Still waiting on help but so far no luck.
