Things are starting to look bad. When all the regulars (like Dwarfsoft) left, things began to slow down. The regulars have started to come back, but things are still too slow here. GDNet is losing its vitality, and I don''t like that. It used to be that coming to the Lounge was an enthralling and enlightening experience. Now, I feel nothing. It''s feeling more like a waste of time to come here. I show up, no one is posting anything entertaining, and I just sit here, hitting the refresh button over and over again, hoping for a great post that isn''t going to happen. It''s starting to depress me. I just know I''m gonna catch hell for this...

Why not start posting enthralling things yourself. Remember, I am not fully back. I don''t sit in front of a computer waiting for the next post for 24 hours like I used to. No, I am currently on a 20 minute -> 2 hour watch. That could be why it is slow.

Just wait until school starts again and there will be lots of people posting. Hmmm, maybe there should be some kind of posting competition to actually spur people on... Could be fun.

I''m all outa ideas tho. Anyone else?

Really? Woah... now that''s addiction . I do agree though - well, everyone''s noticed that the Lounge has slowed right down in past months... no doubt partly due to the abolition of rankings (thank god).

However, GDNet is *not* losing it''s vitality. It''s stronger than ever, with more people, news and resources than ever. I think maybe you should remind yourself this is primarily a programming website... i''m sure the lounge was just origionally intended for those bleak times of programmer''s block (curse it ) or for the occasional break from coding. With the arrival of nes8bit and pouya, it perked up alot... and became more of a social ''hang out'', or something . Now they (and others) have toned down their barrage of posts, it''s simply reverted back to the occasional chill out forum it should be. Gamedev.net is not dying, it''s maturing . There are just as many intelligent posts in the general and game programming forum as there ever were, and the level of responses 90% of the time solves the problem. I think people just turned to the lounge during it''s prime time, and got caught up in all the fun, and the establishment of a new community, like all you crazy people and the old war of whether Nazrix is cool or not . Then, people got bored, and people left... I for one would never expect (had I not seen the Lounge in it''s hay day) a ''lounge'' in a programming forum to have kicked off the way it did anyway... and now it''s just settling down into what it should be. If you remember, the description of the Lounge had to be changed somewhat, when the useless postings were becoming ridiculous... it was something like "DON''T POST JUST TO POST!!!" or something. You notice now that''s gone...

Well, anyway, don''t let the slowing of the Lounge depress you... as dwarfsoft said, start some 30 page topic of your own, that people just *have* to reply to, and try and incite LoungeMania (tm) again. Also, I assume you only came here because you''re a programmer... so... program !

But this is where I go for ideas, inspiration, and a little fun. This place is important. I thrive on knowledge. I mean, I watched the Election coverage from 4 P.M. to Midnight, non-stop.
