well i`m not old enough to get a job(one more year for publix). and i want ideas on how to make money quick besides "a good old job". for example like selling lemonade(not happening) or something like that...

mow lawns, shovel snow, clean gutters, walk dogs, bath cats, clip hedges, fix computers, wash cars, write software and make a profit, write a book, do magic tricks, babysit, run errands for people, become a hitman*, rob banks*, sell organs*, perform for audiences(music,acting...etc), tutor people....and the list goes on.

By the time you end up paying that off, you'll be able to buy the same laptop second-hand for $10. Save your pennies, and really consider a lower-cost machine. Gaming laptops are almost universally stupid anyway, particularly when you can get a brand-new gaming desktop for $900 and a brand-new laptop for $600.

Get a website and put google ads on it. Then click like mad [lol]

it wasnt just the laptop i had some other stuff in there to. i don`t really need a gaming notebook, but i thought the xps just seemed like a good notebook. i was just looking around. so do you have any suggestions for some notebooks that have a lot of memory, good graphics performance, etc. that fit around the price you were talking about?

Get a job somewhere. I worked at min. wage at a fast food place. The work realy isn't as bad as people say fast food places are, and I don't know what everyone thinks is pathetic about working there(I'm 17, its probably pathetic once you hit 22-23 or so). Working for $7.35 an hour for 20 hours a week(here in Washington 20hours is the limit on minors, which isnt really that much work). That should get you more than $200 a month.

EDIT: Oh, and $5k for a laptop is insane! You can get a good laptop for around $2k these days. I would recomend checking out the Compaq Presario, look around and see what you might like there.

Edit again! If you arent looking for a gaming machine I would check something like this out. Its cheap, looks like oyu can build it with some good options there, and it's got a Turion64. It doesn't have a great video card, but if arent looking to play HL2 or D3 or whatever then you should be good.
