What do you mean by directx?
direct3d? directinput? directsound? directshow? directmusic? directplay? directanimation?...?

since he mentioned graphics, he probably means either direct3d or directdraw.

first. what's the problem you're having now?
second. what is the lib not doing that you need it to do?

DirectX, or Direct3d/DirectDraw? DirectX is well for... everything. If you want Direct3d or DirectDraw (from DirectX) graphics then go for it. Only restriction is that it's windows-only. But, if you don't want to port or anything and are developing for windows then definately go for it!

Well I want to use direct 3d casue I know they got ride of direct draw, I am using it for all the above graphics, userinput, sound, and so on. But what i was wondering is that I have aa book called programing rpg in direct x, but it is all in c++ code. So the biggest question I have really is where can I find a good tutorial on how to use directx x in python instead of c++. The graphic look I am going for is high detailed 2d, Like in Star ocean on the super faciom system. I have alot of nice looking sprites and titles sites I just need to find a tutorial on Direct x in python

DirectX is not designed to work directly with python, there are only libraries for c++ and wrappers for .net languages available but python can get extended using c/c++ so you need some directx bindings for python. I’m not sure if there are such wrappers available for python if not you have to write your own.
I do not know any dx tutorials for python but here you have link, it could be useful...
