Article Jaco Wiese Note that this is the first in a "tutorial series," and I don't want to publish any more series that are never completed. Consequently, even if you think the material is worth accepting, I advise that we wait until we have a logically complete set of articles before we publish.

Being the author of a semi-complete tutorial series, I'd be inclined to agree with you. Wait for substantial content first before submitting it. I'm also slightly cautious that DX10 is on the verge of release and we'd be still looking like we're playing "catch up" with a from scratch series.

I vote reject. It doesn't seem to add anything over what you'd get from reading the D3D samples.

You know, I still have your outline for part 2 of your moddable games article sitting on my hard drive....

Anyhow, rejection sent, bcc'd to editor@gamedev.net. Contents as follows:

Dear Jaco Wiese,

We greatly appreciate your submission of "The Not so Hard DirectX9 Tutorial Series – Tutorial 1" for publication consideration. Unfortunately we are not able to accept this submission for publication.

The primary issue is that the article does not present significant value added over existing Direct3D information, and in particular, the Direct3D sample applications. Furthermore the source code used by the article contains a number of implementation issues, such as the unnecessary use of virtual functions, inheritance and global variables. Finally, when publishing an article series, we prefer to have a logically complete set of articles before publishing.

Should it be possible to resolve any of these outstanding considerations, we would be happy to review your content again. For a more detailed explanation of the aforementioned reasons, or to answer any of your questions in general, please contact the Editor-in-Chief at editor@gamedev.net.

Thank you for your submission, and we hope that you will again choose GameDev.Net for future content you wish to share with the game development community.

As you might know, GameDev.Net receives a large number of article submissions and I do apologize for any delay in getting back to you.

I actually picked that up again not long ago and dropped it; then picked it up again. It's going to go down a slightly different route to what I had planned, but if it's still applicable, I'll finish it...
