Article Jeremy King My reflex is simply to disregard. There are dozens of resources for DirectDraw, plus it's obsolete. To be candid, this is a case of an author wishing to receive some recognition/credit for minimal investment.

Agreed. The article is mostly an annotated code dump, includes a random extra section on DirectInput, and appears to be unfinished.

This is just awful; while it's probably not the worst article I've had to read, it's up there. Rejection sent, bcc'd to editor@gamedev.net. Contents as follows:

Dear Jeremy King,

We greatly appreciate your submission of "DirectDraw Tutorial" for publication consideration. Unfortunately we are not able to accept this submission for publication.

The primary issue is that the article seems incomplete. Many useful and necessary details for the programming of DirectDraw applications seem to be omitted, and what details are contained seem insufficiently explained. Furthermore, you advance DirectDraw over Direct3D, yet it is apparent that you lack sufficient experience with Direct3D to give a valid comparison. Finally, the article shows an insufficient grasp of spelling and grammar.

Should it be possible to resolve any of these outstanding considerations, we would be happy to review your content again. For a more detailed explanation of the aforementioned reasons, or to answer any of your questions in general, please contact the Editor-in-Chief at editor@gamedev.net.

Thank you for your submission, and we hope that you will again choose GameDev.Net for future content you wish to share with the game development community.

As you might know, GameDev.Net receives a large number of article submissions and I do apologize for any delay in getting back to you.
