Greetings! In the company that I am currently working at, they have developed a small scripting language containing: if, then, else, endif, and, or, not, <>, +-/* () > < = print, time, date. I was wondering, is there any document out there that specifies some kind of tests and what results are expected. In general I will just check "if" functionality and some mathematical caluclations. Any ideas, design documents, >> "DOCUMENTED TEST CASES" << ? Thank you in advance!

Chances that a generic set of tests fit your specific scripting language are pretty low.

You should write your own, with all the tests you can come up with. As soon as anyone on the team finds a bug, they should write a new test to make sure it is fixed, and that I wont get broken anymore.

Hope this helps!

Thank you for any hints.

Loops are not implemented because they are not required. It does re-filter sql expressions or recordsets, so loops are not required. You can build yourself an expression that will call SQL dLookUp or something like that with ease.

I just need to grant that it works. I thought there where allready some tests present for example if (a>b) then ... or if (ac) or far more complex things. I don't know. You may think it can not be that complex, but it is an industrial thing and it has to work.

In some cases even humans could get hurt if it fails, because it may control some mechanic devices that if one does not care too much can do harm.

If peoples lives are on the line, you might want to write some pretty heavy duty test applications then to generate complex test scripts with expected outcomes. Seriously for those peoples sakes, do it right :)
