It is now 4am, and I just need to finish one more thing... and than another, than another... before I know it five hours go by. Um so I guess I'm posting to let you know that instead of sleeping I was working on a CMS for a website... The sad thing is that I think I could have used the sleep more... so now I'll try to go to sleep, but frankly I can't stop thinking about what would make it better... bah!!

I done the same working on my audio system...before I knew it it was 3:30am... Ah, what a horrible nights sleep since I went to bed because a problem was bugging me.

For some reason I always really want to code after 11:00 PM, so I often only get 2-4 hours of sleep (Have to get up at 7:00).

It's so hot and humid here at this time of the year, that the night is the only time I can actually get anything done - it's only 11:45pm at the moment, but I'll be awake a fair few hours yet.

Personally, I hate sleeping.. I really do, I can't really explain why, I mean, it's good to rest and all that, but I avoid it like the plague...

BTW, it's 4:49 AM... and I'm taking a short break from coding to scour the forums...

When I start coding, it'll easily drag on to 5-6 hours most of the time. Unfortunately, its that way with many things I do really (unless they are extremely boring), especially surfing the web for funny stuff and cool flash games.

I don't especially like sleeping, although I do really like getting into bed with a book and a hot drink/beer and then falling asleep.

We bought some nice soft sheets and after a hard day it is bliss!

Me too. If it wasn't necessary to keep the human brain on a functioning, non-schizophrenic level, I would never sleep. I feel like just laying down and losing consciousness for 7 hours is such a waste of time, when you could be doing better things (not necessarily productive, just more fun).

how do you do it? i sacrifice sleep for coding myself, but if i dont get at least 5 hours of sleep, i look/feel pitiful next day.

I don't know... I think sleeping often helps me code. Sure it doesn't write it down for me but often things that bug me about my algorithms will get a solution once I wake up or when I take the morning shower.

The shower is definatly where I get the most ideas. :P

I hate how ideas on how to fix programming problems only ever come when I've given up on the problem for the night and gone to bed.

I love sleeping, especially now that I can dream again.

Heartburn was preventing me from entering deep-sleep and REM stage sleep. It created a serious sleep disorder that nearly cost me my life on the highway while driving home from work. I saw a doctor, explained the situation, and he gave me "omeprazole". It's pretty good stuff, much better than the Nexium I had before. Nexium didn't seem to work very well and it had some unpleasant side effects, like facial adema that made me grind my teeth, incidentally preventing me from sleeping properly.

I reallized today that this last week has been the first time I've dreamt in over 3 years.

Wow. That's a long time.

Nice, me too.. I get all kinds of revelations in the shower.

I also tend to work very late at night because there are no interruptions. I get all the sleep I can though. Usually 8-9 hrs. If I get too much less, I'll be a zombie and will be more likely to make mistakes in my work. And if you work out regularly, your body needs plenty of sleep to repair.

I'm best at writing application software past 9 PM, and best at writing games past 1 AM. It's weird.

I had the same problem, it didn't affect my sleeping as much as it did my mood and ability to function correctly during the day. I also take "omeprazole" now... it's so great, I can eat normally again.
