Tell me if you guys have ever heard of this one: One time I clicked on an .mpg file on the web, and firefox popped up the usual open/save-to box. I click open, and experience a 2 second stutter and then a blue screen crash. Since then any time i try to use that open/save-to box box with firefox, it crashes firefox (but not all of windows xp!) IExplorer works fine, and embedded clips work fine (it crashes on zips, exes, anything that i get that dialogue box with) Tried uninstalling/reinstalling firefox but it kept the bookmarks and quicklinks so i guess it didn't do much of an uninstall thoughts?

Try removing all the Download Actions?

Tools->Options->Downloads->View and Edit actions. You'd get more help at mozillazine.org

Sounds like Windows is trashed - could be a reinstall job.

Definitely could be a dodgy driver - bluescreen death should simply Not Happen.

Normal software should not cause a bluescreen even if it has bugs in and fails in a bad way.

Firefox doesn't operate at a low enough level to cause blue screens (it sits purely in the application level), but other software, such as firewall software, sits at a lower level and can frequently cause BSOD's (I know that when I boot up again after a BSOD, kerio firewall is the first application to popup and ask me if I think it was responsible [smile]).

If you have any third party firewall software running, I would try disabling it momentarily and then try downloading your mpg. If the blue screen still happens then you can at least rule out the firewall.
