Looks like one of those car "sculptures" on a pedestal. Its in a small "park" like area, note how the greenery has been cut back to make a neat small square. Also there's a much lighter vertical band directly under it. Albuquerque, New Mexico has a car up on a support and the whole thing covered with turquoise ceramic tile. No accounting for aesthetics huh?

The guy's second link has pictures of the locale in question. It doesn't look like it's a sculpture.
Chess is played by three people. Two people play the game; the third provides moral support for the pawns. The object of the game is to kill your opponent by flinging captured pieces at his head. Since the only piece that can be killed is a pawn, the two armies agree to meet in a pawn-infested area (or even a pawn shop) and kill as many pawns as possible in the crossfire. If the game goes on for an hour, one player may legally attempt to gouge out the other

Car accident in the making?

Maybe the car was going too fast and the sat took a picture while it was flying through the air?

Well there is a hill drop off to the side of the road. So the car could have been going really fast and gone of the hill when the satelite photo was taken.

A lot of the images on google earth are DECADES old. Its possible, long ago, there WAS a car on a post there.

Our images are photographs taken by satellites and aircraft sometime in the last three years.

Without nitpicking too much, I can say for a fact that the closest pics of large parts of the UK were not taken within the last 3 years. I estimate that, in a lot of places in the UK, the photographs are between 5-6 years old [smile]

If that is the case for oz, then plenty of time for that car to fly away [grin]

Its a black car. Look around in the parking lot. They look quite similar.

I can also say for a fact that there are images of PA in Google Earth that are well over 15 years old.

Yeah I'm gonna go with the black car explanation.

My other thought was that they could have caught someone doing some sort of explosive test on it, or a car bomb or something, but there don't seem to be clouds of dust or anything that would support that.

Marty! You must come with me, there's no time!

You calling Google a liar? Google wouldn't do that, because lying is evil.

Obviously Google has inadvertantly discoverd an atmospheric phenomenon that can reduce the speed of light to around a trillionth of it's normal speed, making the pictures appear older than they actually are.

Maybe it's a canopy tent that roughly looks like a car when viewed from space. If someone were digging out there, it would be reasonable to have a tent up for shade.

If it were a black car, it would have almost definitely been reflecting the sun off of some of its surface. That spot is completely black, compared to the other black cars in the parking lot. Aside from the fact that the two cars explanation seems to be the most rational, that black spot looks far more like a shadow than a car. Besides, what's the chances that the black car would be perfectly parallel to the other car, would be the same size, and would be offset in the same direction as all the shadows from the trees. I am rather positive myself that it's an elevated object and its shadow. Or it's a hoax. But not two cars.

Or maybe it is a flying car. Does anyone have any naked photos caught on satellite?

Here's a real flying car....of sorts. [grin]

That episode of top gear was pretty cool but nothing compared to gee atherton racing the clio through the streets of a portuguese town on a mountain bike.

The presenters comment of how much of a madman gee atherton is ...here is further proof of his craziness [smile]

That would kinda depend on the angle of the dangle now wouldn't it? It could be the poles shadow completely falls within that of the car above it. Thats why I thought the vertical white line was interesting. Ive seen decomissioned aircraft on poles that were straight and went right into the groung, were curved with a long concrete base, went right up the plane's ah...engine exhaust, etc. If the building nearby is a manufacturing or design facility it could be likely its a display of some sort. But notice google doesn't do the one thing that would clear it up...MORE resolution.
:P

if it were a car on a pole, a large enough pole to hold a car would cast a shadow as well. There is no pole shadow.
