I'm doing a tool for a game and the initial call to CreateWindowEx() takes about 10 seconeds to complete when debugging (Run/F5 and Single step/F10), but if I run without the debugger (Ctrl-F5) it's full speed ahead. I've even tried adding a HelloWorld MessageBox() as the first line of WinMain, but that also takes 10 seconds before it appears??? Anybody got any ideas? PS. I'm using Visual Studio 2003 in C++

Your debugger take a while to set itself up before beginning the execution of you program.

Do you have a large number of breakpoints set?

Nope it's not that, I can single step down to the CreateWIndow call and everythings fine.

But I've just found the problem, CreateWindow loads a 'Messenger Plus 3' DLL (an extension to MS-Messenger) and it is that that's taking the time to load, which is strange cos the DLL is 60K in size - anyway off to MsgPlus's forum to try and get an answer
