I don''t think anyone should develop for XBOX. It seems microsoft is trying to take over the game console industry like everything else. I liked it better when there was only Nintendo, Sega. But Nintendo had to lose all there third parties because they made the N64 cartidge based instead of CD. Nintendo seems to be doing the same thing again with there mini-discs.
Nintendo and Sega know how to make games, Sony and Microsoft do not. Nintendo has Mario, zelda, donkey kong and sega has sonic, and other games. What does sony and microsoft have? Microsoft didn''t make Ages of Empires if thats what your thinking. I think playstation2 is a good system but I didn''t like what happened to nintendo. The only other system I hope does well besides the gamecube and dreamcast is Indrema because it sounds very interesting.
But if anyone is going to support and system I think you should support anything but XBOX. Support Gamecube, Dreamcast, Indrema and maybe even playstation 2. If Microsoft didn''t seem like they wanted to control everything, I might have wanted there system to do well.

As far back as I''ve known who/what Nintendo was, their games have all come on cartridges (unless they had some system I''m unaware of).
Microsoft has every right to try to compete in the console industry. So does anyone that wants to (and is able to). The more choice someone has in buying a gaming system, the more able they are to make a purchase that fits what they want.
Most of the games I''ve seen on the market aren''t made by the same people as the hardware. Sure, they''ll make some, but not ALL of the games available for their platform.
Something that''ll keep Microsoft in check in this case is the fact that they''re the newcomer (or one of them). They won''t have a major advantage over the big names (like Nintendo, Sega, or Sony). As always, the ultimate test will be if people buy the system.

hmmn, MS has done alot worse than release a console, but still this kinda sucks. There XBOX may not succede as such, but it isn''t going to fail (this is MS were talking about, so of course not)

MS may not make games, but they have published many popular games. Age of Empires, Motocross Madness, Mechwarrior 4... Anyway, it dosen't even matter if they make and/or publish games as long as developers make games for the console. example: Metal Gear Solid was not made by Sony.
I fail to see how microsoft not making games has anything to do with them making the hardware. example: nVidia dosen't make games, but they make damn good graphics cards.
BTW, mario, donkey kong, & sonic are not really great games. Compare them to games like Deus Ex, Unreal Tournament, Metal Gear Solid, etc... I never played Zelda so i can't comment. Many of the great games come from developers outside the company that made the console.
Also why do you care if MS controls everything? The point here is are they going to make a good console? If it outshines the competition then MS deserves to be #1.

hm, the 64DD was never released in Americania. The only good release would have been Mother 3 (Earthbound 64), but that got cancelled. I hate Nintendo (they might not bring sin + punishment over! horrors!)

Mario isnt that good? What about Metroid, and has anyone ever played Super Mario RPG? I mean me and my company fully support Microsoft, and are making a bit for their incubator program as we speak. Im happy there is more competition in the games industry and im happy of their approach, I like pc games but im not a big supporter of playing them on my pc, too many problems technically, way too expensive to be buying some new 3d card every year that costs the price of a console. Time to see what the PC boys can really, do, Im looking forward to it. Hopefully we wont see a thousand variations of Quake.
Xbox already has a hell of a lot of developers (professionals) on it. There will be tons of great games for Xbox like Metal Gear Solid 2 (yes i know its comming out for other consoles), Halo, and much much much more. Also, Microsoft gievs companies FREE dev kits unlike sony.

Well, Konami is working on Metal Gear X for X-Box, not MGS2. And in my opinion, this is going to be the only game worth buying an X-Box. Or maybe a few other Konami games, but most other games are going to be either US games or games already available on the PS2. I have nothing against US games, but they just don''t give that feeling you get with japanese games.
>> Also, Microsoft gievs companies FREE dev kits unlike sony.
Hmm... considering how many million dollars are invested in a next-gen game development, I don''t know if anybody really care about spending $15,000 for a devkit...
>> Nintendo and Sega know how to make games, Sony and Microsoft do not.
Sonic, Mario World, Zelda 3, Super Metroid, Donkey Kong, Starfox, these were all GREAT games. But Mario 64 and Zelda: Ocarina of Time ? They''re not worth their ancestors... if Nintendo ever called them "Unknown Plumber 64" and "Some Adventurer: Ocarina of Time", there''s no doubt sales would have been cut in half. Sony, instead, had a lot of high quality games such as Crash Bandicoot, Metal Gear Solid, Gran Turismo, etc. and that''s what made the difference.

What kind of question is that? What if someone else wants to make games how will they do it if microsoft controls it?
Also I didn''t say nintendo had or didn''t have any other format besides cartridge. What I said was because nintendo dind''t use CD, they lost most of there third party licences like konomi and Capcom.
First, for all you who don''t know yet, the Dreamcast is NO MORE. Sega has stopped production for the system due to poor sales!
Here''s my views of console producers....
Sony - They''ve done almost everything right. The right amount of advertisements, highly imaginative and very cool marketing strategies, funny commercials, etc. Their Playstation was a master of a system at the time. The PSX has had around more games for its system then any other, and around 70% of those games are very, very good. And now the PS2 is out, which is obviously the king of the console war right now, as it is the only console in the war right now! (No more DC, no more DC games). And I think its safe to say the PS2 will beat out Gamecube and maybe X-Box.
Nintendo - They''re always the last company to release their system, and the system is always middle-of-the-line. It may be slightly superior in some areas but the general games for it are never anything spectacular, they have poor 3rd party support, a childish and tiring mascot that plagues their world, etc.
Sega - Always the first to rush out the system in the console wars, and always the worst console out. Sega Saturn was nonexistant after the first 2 months and now DC is gone. They are doing horribly.
MICROSOFT - Now, I think the only reason no one is liking the X-box is because it''s being made by MS, and everyone has a negative feeling on them.
The X-Box is factually the most advanced console system ever, and it''s technical stats far surpass that of the PS2 and of the future GameCube''s.
They have alot of great developers under their sleeves, such as Bungie and Oddworld Inhabitants.
If Microsoft did somehow "monopolize" the console market, (which isn''t likely at all), it obviously means that MS''s console is the BETTER SYSTEM. They can''t win over a _console_ market unless their product is the best, and if it is, then you shouldn''t be complaining in the first place!

Oh, and for whoever said "Sony and MS can''t make good games" is obviously an either an idiot or misinformed.
Sony, Nintendo, Sega are all system manufacturers.
They do not create the games for the system. DEVELOPERS DO.
Occasionally, of course, one of the console producer''s will HIRE A TEAM to create a game for the system under their name.
And what are you talking about that there are no good games for Sony''s systems? The overall sales of PSX games is nearly DOUBLE of that of Nintendo''s, and nearly TRIPLE that of Sega''s.
If they make such bad games, why is it they''re far, far, more popular throughout the entire world then any other system? In your opinion you may not like any game for the PSX (which is very hard to believe), but based on sales, revenues, and large magazine and internet polls, Sony''s system has had the most popular games out. And they wouldn''t be popular unless they were good.
Whoever said this, for you to say this, it''s like saying "VHS videos suck because there are no good movies for it!" and then saying "DVD knows how to make good movies!".
