I am deathly afraid of needles... what types of things are you all afraid of?? The Shaz "I don''t want to be a pie... I don''t like gravy." - Babbs, Chicken Run SuperNova Games

Me and doomien did a project on this. Liquid happened to ditch class for it. We had a little booth and plugged all of the phobias listed into UltraHAL and used my laptop connected to this big ass monitor for entertainment. Rob/White Zombie also kept the audience at our booth.

!

Anyway, I bet TheSenshi could figure out my phobia.

Hm... I don''t know the names of my phobias but I''m afraid of heights, low rooms and dogs. (my mother says I was bitten by a dog when I was really small, so that explains that one)

Hmm, I always thought that was included in "being afraid of heights"? I''m not afraid of sitting in an airplane, I
can look over a good solid railing (but only if it''s not TOO high from the ground) and I can look out of a closed window, even if it''s a tall building.

No-nos are:
-railings with glass or other transparent stuff (you know what I mean)
-low, no railings at all (waugh!)
-stairs where the steps are only boards or blocks and you can see through underneath the steps (that kind gives me the CREEPS)
-leaning out of an open window (2nd floor is easily enough)
-at school (gym), climbing the ropes and poles
-high-ish ladders

I''m sortof afraid of needles as well. I''m deathly afraid of injections, but getting blood drawn is fine (actually kind of pleasant - kind of a weird tickly, bubbly feeling - I think I''m the only person who breaks out laughing when getting a blood test).

I''m also afraid of George Bush II, and my wife

*Puts on psychologists hat*

I''m not quite certain what a psychologists hat is, but bear with me here. I''m sure you all know what would happen if I didn''t have my psychologists hat.

In any case, I believe I can narrow nes8bit''s disorders down to the following:

Papaphobia - Fear of the pope
Hippopotomonstrosesquippedaliophobia- Fear of long words. (No, I didn''t make this one up, but someone else likely did)
Arachibutyrophobia- Fear of peanut butter sticking to the roof of the mouth. (nor did I make this one up)
Francophobia - Fear of France (He never actually said this, but that''s not the important thing)
Anglophobia- Fear of England, English culture, etc.
Logizomechanophobia- Fear of computers.
Lutraphobia- Fear of otters.
Lunixaphobia - Fear of communism/linux (I might of made this one up, I don''t really care to tell you, however)
Meningitophobia- Fear of brain disease.
Metrophobia- Fear or hatred of poetry.
Novercaphobia- Fear of your step-mother. --|
Nucleomituphobia- Fear of nuclear weapons.-| (These two go together)

I probably didn''t include everything, but frankly I don''t care. I might add to the list if someone buys more alcohol for me.

I''m not sure, but I heard that if you spin around 30 times while saying my name, absolutly nothing will happen, and you can rest assured that you don''t have a "TheSenshi" to bother you.

I am afraid I won''t ever make it into the industry. Does that count?

Here is a true story for all those people afraid of hieghts:

This last summer I got a job working as an electrician on a grain elevator (a huge building that stores grain until a train can take it away to be processed into flour, etc). I was supposed to help the other guys when they needed it (since I am only 17 and don''t know a lot about electrical stuff). The first day (within the first few hours) they had me climb up a metal ladder up the side of a massive (100ft high) grain bin. I had a drill (with a cord, not cordless) and I was to drill holes in the side of the ladder I was on so we could attach a big cable up to the top. I felt like I grabbed something sharp, but when I looked at my hand I saw nothing. Then it happened again. It turns out that the drill I was using was shorting out on the metal ladder that I was hanging onto. I came down and told the other guys that it was getting a little high for me and I couldn''t get enough pressure on the drill (not to mention that it was shocking me). As soon as the other guy went up and started drilling he said something like "holy (place profanity here), there is some serious sparks coming off this thing".

A few weeks later I got to go on top of the grain elevator (136ft) and help the other guy reppel down the side so he could put a ground on (so when lighting strikes it doesn''t blow things apart).

How is that for hights?

Never cross the thin line between bravery and stupidity.

Me? I''m afraid of needles and electric shocks.

2 stories

Near the end of school, science teacher decides to have a fun lesson, so he rigs up a transformer and starts playing around by giving people electric shocks. I''m sitting at the back of the room trying to remain unnoticed. Then he says "Ok, everyone stand in a circle and hold hands, we''re going to give you all a shock at the same time". Noooooo.

I sat there at the back of the room, hoping that they would do it without me... no such luck, I tried pleading and so on... no such luck. Then, we were standing in the circle... traumatizing stuff, I''m pale and in a cold sweat, and rather than just get it over with, he reminds everyone how many volts it is and gives a nice countdown. I kind of feel sorry for the people who were holding my hands... so sweaty I think =)

Finally, after what seemed like an eternity, we got it... and although it wasn''t that bad (I know they aren''t that bad... I just can''t stop being fearful of them) I still hate them.

Next: (this one''s kind of funny )
Having rubella injections at school (I''m going to have a phobia of school if this keeps up ) so I go into the room, have the needle and after wincing and all that through the injection, its over, so I walk out with a sore arm. Fine.

I''m about to pick up my bag, when I feel a bit funny... I stood where I was standing for a bit... then I crouched... then my vision went dark... then black... and I couldn''t hear properly (sounded like an African drum solo even though it was quiet ).

By this time, everyone had gone to class, so I''m there on my own on the ground with my sense of touch. Don''t ask me why, but I figured that I should go to class Now my classroom was 2 buildings away and upstairs... and I''m not exactly sure how I got there, but I did.

Walking into the room is something I kind of remember... I fumbled for the door handle and walked in, by this time I could see in patches, so I spotted an empty desk at the front of the room and tried to sit down... there wasn''t actually a chair there, but the teacher had rushed over to see that I was ok (because I didn''t look it) and she caught me on my way down. Then they sent me back to where I came from and I lay down for a while.... funny in hindsight.

I''m phobiotic of myself, the people i know, the oppisite sex (not that i don''t like em..), and sporting balls that go flying through the air about 80cm off the ground

As for that conscious passing out, i''ve found that happens at any point of extreme pain, such as a steel capped shoe hitting ones groin, and failing to sit down untill one can''t see

eh?
