Does anyone have a link to a website that explains how to start DirectDraw under DirectX 8?

There is no DirectDraw 8, you have to use 7. Or just use D3D 8 and ignore the z-axis. Then you will have the speed of the video cards as well as all of the spiffy effects that they can do.

Never argue with an idiot, they drag you down to their level and then beat you with experience.

Well actually there is a directdraw8 ver 4.08.00.0400, but I think its accessed through direct3d like Krill said, actually M$ hardly updated Direct3D ver. 4.07.00.700 (still 7) , but made major changes to directdraw8
*confused by earlier errors, bailing out....***

No, there is no DirectDraw 8. I still can''t believe that people think there is one there. Look at the headers for goodness sake.
If you want to use DirectDraw and use DirectPlay 8, DirectSound 8 or DirectInput 8, then that''s fine, use DirectDraw 7. You could do what I have done and use Direct3D for 2D rendering.

Just because you''re outnumbered doesn''t mean you''re wrong.
