generic IDE? (palm/gcc/rhide question)

I''d like to start coding a palm app or two, but I''d rather not plunk down the hundreds of dollars for CodeWarrior, so I was wondering if there was an IDE I could configure to use the palm gcc compiler, and do resource building and things like that as well. I thought rhide would be able to do this (I thought I remembered a way to do this, but it has been years since I''ve used it). I''d rather not use emacs quite yet, even though I plan to learn how to use it effectively sometime in the future. I haven''t been able to find an IDE that isn''t tied to a particular compiler or situation, so if someone could reccomend something, I''d appreciate it very much.
