I've been working on an interactive symbol game that has a few interesting concepts. Looking for someone who knows c++ (preffered) or Java I posted a basic outline of the purpose of the game here. NOTE: I have progressed a bit more after I stopped posting on it (didn't go insane after all :) http://www.gamedev.net/community/forums/topic.asp?topic_id=382971 (I might not actually release it as a web app like I said in that post) I've worked out a coded scripting language where the user creates behaviors from 1 dimensional lists of command components. There are 7 lists : Commands, Logic Commands, Triggers (Handlers), Object References, Properties, Types, and Values. I will post a spreadsheet with descriptions of how the lists work (If you are interested, I HIGHLY suggest looking it over, it is at the heart of the program). When two symbols are combined the scripts run as if one script was put after the other and both assigned to a new symbol. Then an observer module will 'watch' how the symbol acts and create it's own code using the 'vocabulary' in the lists for the symbol. Then after that it will look for repeating patterns in the code of the script and add those patterns to it's vocabulary. Then it simplify its code using the new vocabulary. That simplified code will then be assigned to the symbol, and that symbol will be ready to mix with another one.
