Sometimes when searching it would be really nice if google would search on something other then just letters and numbers. For example, a while ago I was browsing through someone elses php code (zen-cart I think [sick]) and noticed the had @ sprinkled around throught the app before functions. At the time I had no idea what the hell it ment and doing a search for php @ is useless. There are also a number of instances when it would be handy when working with any programming language where syntax xould involve [] {} () * or any combination there of. Does anyone know of a search engine that DOES allow non alpha numeric searches? Is there a reason why a search engine wouldn't allow you to? Are those characters not indexed? How would you search for 'php @'?

It makes searching for "C#" interesting as well, what with # being the bookmark character in hyperlinks.
Regarding searching for "PHP @", I'd have just looked in the manual, which is what I usually have to resort to in the case of C#.

I think I eventually found it in one of the user contributed comments on one of the functions. Browsing their manual could take forever.

Also, I hate my search has number in it and it returns results with the number in the url.

The fact that MSDN seems to totally ignore # in searches drives me crazy.
