Ok, so I am using a SiS graphics card... An old one... So, I have the drivers that I had from when I bought the pc (a LONG time ago). I decided to upgrade... It told me I had to uninstall the previous one and stuff looked horrible until I installed the new ones... Now most (not all... just... most) Opengl applications run at about 1-2 fps.. All (ALL) Direct3d applications increased by about 33.33333333% fps... Kinda weird.. don't you think? I was expecting to get faster speeds..

Yeah, it's probably only becuase DirectX has software acceleration (some sort), probably better than OpenGL's.

Did you update with the correct drivers?

Yeah... Most up-to-date ones I could find.. And yes, I matched up everything and made sure I got the right version of it for my card...

Kinda wierd, ya know? What is Half-life programmed in? That runs perfectly... Heroes Of Might And Magic 3 & 4 also run perfect...

Weird...

EDIT: Also, WindowFX and WindowBlinds run much faster when I updated... And I have most of the "enchancements" turned on...

Half-Life has three renderers: software, OpenGL, and DirectX

What games are you experiencing slowdown in and what sort of performance were you getting previously?

You are probably running MS driver for OpenGL.
Check the GL_VENDOR from glGetString.

I made a little test in Half-Life:
Software, 640x480 - Everything is extremely "pixelized", but everything is very fast.
Opengl, 640x480 - VERY smooth... No slowdowns at all, even when there is smoke.
Direct3d, 640x480 - Pretty smooth.. Fast... Kinda slows down when there is smoke.
Direct3d, 1024x768 - Kinda slow... Slowed down when there is smoke.

So, atleast in Half-life (well.. to tell you the truth, CS) everything is fine...

As for games.. none that I have, really... But this post I made shows that (and I also remember that this is true) I got about 90 fps before upgrading... Now when I download the same thing I get REALLY slow rendering and it says, 1-2fps.... (The quote has the download in it...)

Any ideas?

Umm.. It just says "Sis"...

There's some small possibility that, on these new drivers, some function in the OpenGL driver is slowing down the rendering pipeline, since you are running the Sis driver vendor, and you said that only some applications have this slowdown.

Which one? It's impossible for us to discover it.

Maybe, it's the filtering of the textures.
On my old PC, using NEAREST mapped textures in OpenGL gave me >15 FPS, enabling LINEAR textures gave me 1 FPS.

Could be that.
