At my University (Edinburgh), this guy called Adam recently got too depressed for being stuck in the labs and started to send out Haiku to the newsgroup which only real saddacts like me read.
Quote:
Working in the labs: Individual Practical. I love Friday night.
Then this...
Quote:
public static void not returning anything emptiness inside
And as if that wasn't enough...
Quote:
if(motivation) {
    practical = goodGrade;
} else writeAHaiku();
Can you do better?

Wait... I'm pretty sure that has far more syllables than it's meant to... Oh well, I fail

Go to hell and die.

Hmm, I'm not very good at these[wink]

Also, is it me, or did the first one, second line have one too many syllables?

Yep, it does it you pronounce individual properly (Queen's English). Lots of people would probably pronounce it as in-div-i-jool however.

I was really bored this one day in class, and I was obsessed with Haiku, so I wrote this 24-stanza Haiku love poem:

Dreams can be odd things
But they signify nothing
Except a fool's hope.

You swing your bright hair
Your dark and yet bright eyes wink
Amid the sad crowd.

Hear my voice stutter
See me shiver in delight
When your eyes meet mine.

I know I shouldn't
I am supposed to be strong
As I am the male.

Dammit you're the one
Who is supposed to quiver
When I come around.

And I know you do
I've seen you when I come by
You want me, don't you?

The Sun flares yellow
Lighting the cool and crisp air
Far above the clouds.

You stands before me
Your eyes radiate desire
Spring has come to us.

Golden light comes through
The dawn has finally come
Now we see the light.

We run through the field
Running past the creek, the lake
The grass beats our feet.

Stiff breeze bends the grass
The water laps at the shore
A storm is coming.

We run from the sky
We shelter in the forest
Under the tall trees.

The wind shrieks in rage
The trees writhe as if in pain
The rain pelts in ground.

Through the raging storm
Two voices raised in pleasure
Echo through the trees.

The lightning flashes
The eye of the storm has come
The climax is reached.

The water is still
No longer do the trees bend
Peace has touched the wood.

We rest in silence
Drinking in the warm stillness
Nature has given.

Your eyes glow softly
Even now, the desire shows
While the sunset glows.

The sun dips below
The horizon glows blood-red
Stars begin to sing.

Think on this, young one
Remember the dreams of old
They still carry truth.

Yup, I was really bored... I still have a bunch of Haikus that I wrote sitting in a text file somewhere.

Also see this thread for lots of Haikus.

What's tragic about it? I do that kind of thing all the time...

On a somewhat related note, I sent that to a girl I'm kind of interested in and she was a lot friendlier after she got it. [grin] She now thinks I'm weird, and tells me so on a regular basis.

Granted, she's also a poet, but meh... This one (not Haikus) both she and the teacher were particularly fond of... everyone calls me lizard man now. [lol]

Oh, and before I forget (wrote this on the spot):

Many have remarked
"So serious, Haiku is"
Sounding like Yoda.
