We have no problems getting gratis copies of pretty much any book that is even remotely related to game development. Many publishers even automatically send us copies of books that are of interest to our readers. I'll be posting some of the latter as I receive them, but if anyone wants free books to review, just post 'em here. A few guidelines:
  • The book should probably be recent
  • I'm particularly interested in books that we don't have any reviews for yet
  • If you live outside of the US, I may have a harder time getting it for you
  • In most cases, I won't be able to request multiple copies of a book
  • You have to write the review! I'm looking for detailed reviews, 3-5 paragraphs long, posted within a month of receiving the book.
We're also open to longer, deeper book reviews that we can treat as features (see Sean's reviews for examples). If you want to do one of these, let me know in advance, since it doesn't make sense to do it for all books. One thing that would fit well here though is roundups of similar books (e.g. beginners books, introductory C++ books, DirectX books, OpenGL books - though I may not publish the latter if you don't come to the correct conclusion [wink]).
