This book seems up my alley, but there seems to be some mixed reviews about the first edition. Have you read the 2nd edition? Is it good enough for beginners to start with? The most I've done with DirectX is some 2d games although it was in managed code. I've been transfering back to C++/DirectX and got up to drawing sprites. That's my experience anyway, but I'm not sure if it's enough to start with this book yet. What do you think?
