Is there a reason you don't delete spam threads? Banning the offender and locking the threads still provide advertisement for the spammer. If anything the red name and locked thread will draw more people to it in order to see what the fuss is about.

We usually do. Which one did we miss?

I do delete spam threads for just that reason.

Sorry, maybe I just looked too soon. I was refering, in particular, to the guy yesterday who spammed 4 of the boards before getting the axe. The topics still showed up under active topics after he was banned. They always seem to sit a while in the lounge too after being closed.

Spam will only get deleted and members banned once a moderator spots them... whilst thats usually pretty quickly, it is possible that they won't get seen for several hours. Best bet is to use the "Report this post to a moderator" button - that'll make sure that it gets sorted ASAP [smile]

Maybe I'm misreading this but for someone to ban to be banned a mod or staff has to see it/them correct? Well yesterday the person got banned, obviously by a mod or staff, but the thread was still left open, not immediately deleted. I, too, saw what tstrimp saw.

What was it called? Do you remember which forums it was in?

I think it was in the Lounge and the guy was selling a Samsung, a Laptop and a PDA. Each one of those it's own separate thread.

I don't, but I did report it yesterday via the report link. It was probably just a delay between the ban and the deletion of the thread as I can't seem to find it now.

Quite often spammers will manage to get multiple posts made before being spotted by a moderator, and typically the first action taken is to ban the poster so that they won't be able to post any more. That means that in the meantime you may be able to spot some of thier posts around before we get to cleaning them up.

Do feel free to flag any such threads you see though, we appreciate the help in spotting problems.
